Celebrate Black Ladies In Nyc: Kiss & Tell Blogtacular Love Summit
For the last few months, I’ve been bombarded with tons of articles, research, and personal encounters with the social issues of black women. I took all that information, and decided to use it to write a personal letter to black women. I’m hoping to encourage us as whole, and possibly change the way we perceive some of our issues.
Synthetic hair wigs are considerably less costly than real hair, but do not have the same quality. Synthetic hair these days is much better than it was a few years ago and a really good quality synthetic wig can look very good. However it does not have the feel or qualities of real hair. If your budget will not stretch to buying a real hair wig you should consider a good synthetic. Chosen carefully you can find something that will work very well for you. This is particularly true if you do not intend to wear the wig daily but rather just for an evening out or special occasion.
We have a man shortage in the black community. A lot of our men are in jail, dead, in the streets, or simply just don’t want to be with us. Some rather date other races. All of this creates strong competition with our fellow dating sites for white men seeking black women, and with women of other races.
One famous Chelsea Handler interview was with rapper T.I., who’d been recently convicted of gun possession charges. Chelsea asked him right out how he felt about going to the Big House, and to explain to her why she herself might need a car full of semi-automatic weapons. T.I. tried to play it tough for awhile, but once Chelsea got into blunt discussions of his sex life and her own interest in white women black men dating site, he couldn’t hide his amused but slightly flustered surprise at her non-PC comments.
I’m not the only black woman who has experienced this. Most of us have, and most of us know what it’s about. But I don’t know how many of us think it’s about what I think it’s about: Men.
Though I don’t like or dislike Halle Berry, I felt an unexpected empathy for her when she happily announced that she was pregnant. Berry spent a large portion of her life with no good men and whether she was at fault or not, I thought it was great that she had found true love with a man who respected her and treated her right. The fact that he was white mattered little. Or so I thought.
I know you are thinking racism has existed since the beginning of mankind, but you are thinking about the racism that happens at work, at the store, or just somewhere out in the world. The racism I’m talking about is happening in the most sacred place where you should find comfort and peace…your HOME.
And look at someone with long black hair, and ask where she gets it done. But here’s the kicker. Ask her if she has always had long hair. If she says something like, “No, my hair was breaking all the time, but then I changed hairdressers and-” That means you’ve got a winner because her dresser knows not only about long hair but healthy long hair.
